It’s week three of quarantine, and we pretty much ran through every show and movie there is to offer. I am a professional binger. So, we wanted to share some must-watch series/movies for you to enjoy while you’re working from home & staying safe. Yes, we are telling you to stay in the house. Trust us; it’s better to be safe inside than at risk. But, don’t worry, we are sure these five options will keep you entertained.
To All The Boys I Ever Loved
Lara Jean Covey is young, she’s never had a boyfriend, but she has written five love letters. This young adult romantic comedy follows this heroine in her journey of self-acceptance and telling her to crush her true feelings. It’s a good movie to just lounge on the couch and enjoys this new-age version of love. Plus, we are rooting for the fact the lead actress, Lana Condor, is one of the only Asian-American ladies to lead a romantic comedy. We have to support it!
Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam CJ Walker
We stan a good Octavia Spencer movie. Who can forget how she stole the show as Minnie in The Help. Well. Here she is again with co-stars Tiffany Haddish and sexy chocolate, Blair Underwood. This loosely based short series dives into the life of the mogul who made us fall in love with our hair. Overall, if you’re looking for an entertaining (s)hero story, enjoy this series.
Now, we previously praised this series, but we noticed it’s taking time for the traction to grow?! How! It’s Latinx stories written and created by Latinx Hollywood. We can’t tell you enough how much we love the plot twists, comedy, and moments of breakthrough within a story. Trust us; you will enjoy these dynamic cousins and their attempt to save their Pop’s taco restaurant.
On My Block
The gang is back, and while we loved season 1&2, we are having mixed thoughts about season 3. So, let’s guide you for a second on why this show is good. Yes, they are high-school teens, and yes, they have this dynamic romance tale. However, this show also has gangs, money laundering, murder, and mysterious lawn elves? Take our word for it, and you will be hooked and find your favorite character after the third episode.
Leave it to a gun-slinging, money laundering, expired meat hoarding private zoo owner to keep us on our toes. Yes, this docu-series is ridiculous and eye-opening to those who are private zoo owners in America. While there are some ridiculous and laugh-worthy moments in this series, we also are alarmed. This series is anything but boring.
