When you are jumping into a new career pond and trying figure out exactly what you want to do, let’s face it you need help. Taking on a new role or finding a career can be tough all by yourself. You make little mistakes that turn into greater mistakes. You struggle trying to figure out how to handle new tasks and take on greatness. It’s okay, this happens to everyone. This is my key advice, though. Take on a mentor and ask for advice. There is nothing wrong with asking for advice or help from someone’s who once was in your shoes. When I first moved to New York, all I wanted was some guidance. I searched for help and ended up meeting my favorite personality, Marisa Mendez.
It was a breath of fresh air because she told me her mistakes she made early on and how she has evolved. Teaching me that everything takes time and the importance of putting yourself out there. I was honored because this woman has helped and assisted with many careers such as Nicki Minaj, French Montana, Joe Budden, and more. Learning from her advice has helped and allowed me to continue to want more in the entertainment field. But that’s another story for another day.
It’s okay to be lost and confused when stepping into a new role. It happens and everyone has been there. Just remember there are still some good out there and people who aim for you to succeed as well. It takes a little faith and a little bit of opening up and asking for the advice. These are some keys to succeeding.
